Hi, I’m Matt.

My story

I joined the U.S. Navy at seventeen. My mom had to sign the paperwork. I served on the USS Nitro, an ammunition ship, and learned early that people only follow the ones they have a real relationship with. (Ask me about the time I “shot” my captain.)

Before I ever coached a business owner, I was a therapist. That’s where I learned that most people aren’t looking for answers. They’re looking for someone who will actually listen.

For the last twenty years I’ve coached financial advisors and the businesses around them. Today I’m Chief Evangelist at Zocks, an AI platform used by more than 5,000 advisory firms, where I help advisors use AI to become more human, not less.

I’ve written three books, including Shut the F Up and Listen, and my new one, Be Irreplaceable, comes out January 15, 2027. I’ve been on more than 1,000 podcasts, on both sides of the mic, and I co-host Better Practice, Better Life. At TEDx Swansea I shared HOPE: Help One Person Every Day.

I live in Portage, Michigan, with my wife and our dogs.
